Thiess, CIMIC Group’s mining services provider, has secured a mining services contract for MACH Energy’s new Mount Pleasant coal mine in the Hunter Valley region in New South Wales.
Under their contract, Thiess will take on total mining operations for the coal mine until 2021. Their scope of works will include mine planning and engineering. This new contract will generate a total revenue of approximately $500 million for the company.

The Mount Pleasant coal mine is expected to generate an estimate of 474 million tonnes of total marketable coal reserves.

Following the completion of a three-year mining services contract awarded in 2015, Downer EDI has been awarded a new three-year contract valued at approximately $120 million which will get the company to continue providing mining services at the CSA underground copper mine in Cobar, New South Wales.
QCoal has awarded a new $480 million contract to CIMIC Group member, Thiess, to continue delivering mining services at the QCoal Northern Hub which is located in the Bowen Basin in Queensland.
CIMIC Group member Thiess has been awarded a $185 million contract to provide additional mining services for BHP at the Mount Arthur coal operation located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales.
