I’m the type of girl that LOVES planners. I don’t like putting things on my virtual calendar I like the old-fashioned way of pen and paper. Having a physical planner helps me remember important dates and it helps me jot down important thoughts. Throughout each of my pregnancies I wrote down dates from my Doctor’s appointments, future and current milestones, and I kept pictures of each ultrasound. After my last loss, I couldn’t bear to continue using the same planner I had and it made no sense to buy a planner in October.
2019 started and I could not come to terms with buying a new planner, the pain stung too much. So, for the better part of the year, I went without my hand dandy planner and I decided it was time. After shopping online, going to Walmart, Target, and Barnes and Noble I finally found the one. I bought a planner that I love and that takes me all the way through December 2020!
Although it is just a planner, for me it is much more than that. Buying my planner is a sign that healing is occurring; it is a sign that in that moment I decided that my pain would not hold me back in that area. Though it may seem small, buying my planner was a huge step and a sign of growth. I like planners and had put that part of me on hold, I am glad some parts of me are slowly coming back while others have evolved.

Looks like a nice one! & I’m glad it’s helping you to heal. <3
I have all my calendars/datebooks/planners going back to when I was about 12 years old (!) & I have used Filofax planner inserts for almost 30 years now. Love having them to reference! I use different coloured pens for different things: red for birthdays & anniversaries, black (& yellow highlighter) for important stuff, green to mark off bills that have been paid, etc. I also note stuff on each day like what the weather's like (in purple pen), mail received & sent (in turquoise pen) and important phone calls received & made (in brown). I also use a lot of post-it notes as to-do reminders or for stuff that's tentative/doesn't have a firm date to write in yet. Works for me!
That sounds like an amazing system! maybe I should color coordinate some things too.
Love this post. Thanks for sharing ❤️
Love you! Your posts are raw and real. Thank you for your openness in sharing your feelings and thoughts as you walk through grief and healing. You are loved and appreciated. ❤️ Prayers continue 😘
We see our progress in the smallest of ways. It is worth celebrating, and glad that you have done so by sharing this post. I love stationery too – and like the look of your planner, and especially that quote.
Oh I can really relate to this. I love my planner too. I understand how a “small” thing like buying a new planner is really a huge thing in terms of healing. I am happy for you and your new planner. (And responding to compliments with, “Thanks, that’s true” is a great idea!)
Right! that’s how I’m going to respond from now on. I have a habit of responding “I know, right” when someone compliments something that I know is true lol
It’s a beautiful planner! Congratulations on getting to that point where you can use one the way you did again, that’s good healing. I have all my planners and notebooks and it’s so funny how they can bring you back to a particular moment in time. Like lists of what to do on a weekend…they can tell you EXACTLY what you were doing and what was important at that time. I’m glad you’re finding yourself making growth. And again, I really, really like that planner.
