Construction on the Inland Rail Broadford-Wandong Road bridge in Wandong, Victoria is a step closer to commencing as designs are revealed for community feedback.

The Broadford-Wandong Road bridge will be delivered as part of the Beveridge to Albury section of Inland Rail in Victoria.

The project will replace the existing bridge with a higher and safer structure as well as install a roundabout at the Broadford-Wandong Road and Rail Street intersection to improve safety and sight lines.

The new bridge is going to be built slightly north of the existing bridge, allowing for the old structure to remain operational while the new bridge is constructed, minimising traffic disruptions.

Community feedback is now being sought to help refine the look and feel of the new bridge and its surrounding area – including pathways, signage, seating and landscaping.

Community information sessions where residents will be given the opportunity to have their questions about the project answered will be held between 26 August and 23 September with project team members.

Feedback as well as key themes gathered from these sessions will be used to shape the next phase of the design process and, if possible, will be incorporated into the final bridge design.

“Feedback from the community and stakeholders continues to inform the design for the Broadford-Wandong Road bridge project in Wandong.

“The community has told us heritage, safety, connectivity, and the community gardens are important, and we have incorporated them and extended the gardens in the latest design.

“We are seeking feedback on how the community plans to interact with the bridge, including road and pedestrian access and pathways and other urban design elements such as seating, signage and landscaping,” ARTC Victoria and South Australia Projects General Manager Ed Walker said.
