Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now out to market for managing contractors to undertake the design and construction of the $1.8 billion Women and Babies Hospital, the expansion of services at Osborne Park Hospital and neonatal services at Perth Children’s Hospital.
The EOI process is the first step in the appointment of a managing contractor that will work with the Western Australian Government to deliver this vital project. Tender details are available at Tenders WA.
“The new Women and Babies Hospital is one of the most significant health investments for our State and will deliver exceptional healthcare for women and babies.
“The new hospital will be modern and fit-for-purpose and next door to the State’s largest tertiary hospital.
“The call for expressions of interest for a managing contractor is the chance for industry and the Government to work together to deliver this landmark project for all Western Australians,” Premier Roger Cook said.
The over one-billion-dollar project will involve relocating services from King Edward Memorial Hospital to a new building within Murdoch’s Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct comprising obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal services.
In addition to the new hospital building, the project will also expand Osborne Park Hospital’s theatres, obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal services along with neonatal services at Perth Children’s Hospital.
A new Family Birth Centre will also be built alongside the revamped Osborne Park Hospital.
“The world-class facilities delivered through this project will enable comprehensive healthcare services and greater choice for women, families and the community of Western Australia.
“We are also expanding services in our northern corridor with an expansion to Osborne Park Hospital to include the establishment of a new Family Birth Centre and expanded maternity and neonatal services.
“I am committed to getting this project right for women and families in Western Australia,” Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said.
The overall project is expected to create more than 1,400 local jobs during its construction and will provide significant opportunities for local contractors and suppliers.
Once complete, the new Women and Babies Hospital will deliver world-class, innovative health care services to women, newborns, families and the broader Western Australian community.
