Core Lithium secures new mining lease for Finnis Lithium Project in NT
The Northern Territory Government has granted a 25-year mining least to Core Lithium for the BP33 lithium deposit, marking a new major milestone on the Finniss Lithium Project near Darwin.
This mining lease is the second lithium mining lease in the State awarded to Core Lithium and it will pave the way for the Finniss project to become shovel-ready.
“This additional mining leasr approval from the Northern Territory Government is well timed as Core continues to advance the Finnis Lithium Project towards commencing construction and as we aim to further expand resources, life of mine and production capacity in 2021.
“It is a further encouragement that the NT Government understands the important role that Finnis will play in the future of the lithium sector and as we continue to see signs of global improvement in this industry, we are optimistic of our near-term plans for Australia’s next lithium mine,” Core Litium Managing Director Stephen Biggins said.

The Finnis Lithium Project is wholly owned by Core Lithium and it is located just south of Darwin Port, within the Bynoe Pegmatite Field – one of the most prospective sites for lithium in the State.
The project is also located close to grid power as well as gas and rail and it is in close trucking distance by sealed road to Darwin Port.
In 2019, Core Lithium was granted the very first mining lease for a lithium project in the Northern Territory. You can read more about the previous mining lease here.
The Finnis Lithium Project is expected to support up to 150 jobs during its construction phase and a further 90 jobs once the mine is up and in production.
