The Australian Government has released the Budget 2019-20 which focus on delivering infrastructure that will aid in managing the nation’s growing population as well as help meet the country’s freight challenge and to get Australians home quicker and safer.
A record $100 billion has been invested over a 10-year period beginning in 2019-20 towards the delivery of the nation-building projects, and this includes approximately $23 billion of new funding that will be spent on initiatives and projects which will create jobs and which every state or territory can benefit from.
Listed below are the projects and initiatives that have been highlighted on the 2019-20 Budget.
National
- $3 billion - Round 2 of Urban Congestion Fund, which includes Commuter Car Parking Fund
- $1 billion - Roads of Strategic Importance
- $1 billion - Princes Highway (New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia)
- $2.2 billion - Local and State Government Road Safety Package
- $14.5 million - National Faster Rail Agency
New South Wales
- $1.6 billion - M1 Pacific Motorway Extension to Raymond Terrace
- $405 million - additional funding for M12 Motorway
- $400 million - Newell Highway Upgrades
- $200 million - Hawkesbury River Third Crossing
- $12.5 million - Pooncarie Road to Menindee
- $3.5 billion - Western Sydney North South Rail Link Stage 1
Victoria
- $2 billion - Fast Rail Program (Geelong to Melbourne)
- $1.14 billion - Suburban Roads Upgrades (South Eastern Roads and Northern Roads)
- $700 million - South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Rail Upgrade (Stage 2 and 3)
- $360 million - Western Highway: to completed the duplication between Ballarat and Stawell
- $300 million - Sealing roads in the Dandenong Ranges and surrounds
- $208 million - Goulburn Valley Highway: Shepparton Bypass Stage 1
- $110 million - Wellington Road Duplication
Queensland
- $800 million - Gateway Motorway: Bracken Ridge to Pine River
- $500 million - M1 Pacific Motorway Upgrade Program, including Daisy Hill to Logan Motorway
- $320 million - additional funding for Warrego Highway
- $287.2 million - Cairns Ring Road
- $100 million - Gladstone Port Access Road Extension
Western Australia
- $348.5 million - additional funding for Tonkin Highway
- $207.5 million - Oats Street/Welshpool Road/Mint Street Level Crossing Removal
- $140 million - Albany Ring Road
- $115 million - Fremantle Traffic Bridge (Swan River Crossing)
- $122 million - Bunbury Outer Ring Road (Stage 2 and 3)
South Australia
Tasmania
- $68 million - Tasmanian Freight Rail Revitalisation Program: Tranche 3
Australian Capital Territory
- $30 million - Kings Highway Corridor
- $20 million - William Slim Drive Duplication
Northern Territory
- $45.5 million - Barkly Regional Deal
- $492.3 million - Roads of Strategic Importance
- $60 million - Tiwi Islands Roads Upgrades
